What Are Stories For?

Every day we share stories. A story can be something as simple as retelling the events of the day or as elaborate as a fairy tale told over weeks at bedtime. Stories can encompass memories, fanciful ideas, lessons and many other themes. They often are used to impart knowledge, share ideas, and create connection within people.

The Walla Walla Public Library is hosting a Big Idea Talk "What are Stories For?" which focuses on what stories are actually used for. We consume stories every time we turn on the television, read an article, or have a conversation. In this talk Brian McDonald and guest Anne Sterling examine the idea that stories are not just a way to pass time, but are actually critical to human existence.

This is a free event is on April 8th and is open to anyone 18 and over. There is a dessert reception that begins at 6:30 and the talk begins at 7:00 p.m. The Walla Walla Public Library is located at 238 E. Alder St. in Walla Walla.
