Archaeology Kids Camp

In honor of Archaeology Awareness Month, Fort Walla Walla Museum will be holding a camp for kids to get hands-on experience "working" as archaeologists. This day camp will be led by the Fort's on-staff historical archaeologist Ashley Morton. The participants of the camp will get practical experience surveying, mapping, identifying artifacts, and more! This is an exciting opportunity to show eager young minds how archaeologists learn about our past from the cultural artifacts.

The recommended age range for this camp is 9 through 11. Participants will cycle through a series of stations designed to teach kids how to think and work like a real archaeologist. The stations will include:
  1. Almond butter and jelly archaeology
  2. Dirt science
  3. Ancient graffiti
  4. Site grid & mapping
  5. Bag O’ artifacts
  6. Roman archaeology
  7. Archaeology Olympic
Archaeology Kid's Camp is October 15 from 8:30-3:45 at Fort Walla Walla, which is located at 755 Myra Rd. in Walla Walla. Please register before the day of the camp. Registration forms are available at the Museum or on our website, fwwm.org
