Free Seeds from Walla Walla Gleaners Assc.

It's spring, and that means it is time to plant a garden! The best thing about gardening is that you don't have to have a green thumb, you don't have to have a designated garden plot, and you don't need a large backyard!

The Walla Walla Gleaners Association is holding a "Seeds to Supper" seed swap. The idea behind Seeds to Supper is to get seeds into the hands of hungry people in our community in order to combat food insecurity.

The seed swap is free and anyone can attend. You can bring seeds to swap or donate, or you can pick up seeds to plant. You do not need to bring seeds to get seeds.  The great thing about seeds is they will grow almost anywhere. You can plant the seeds in a coffee can, your front yard, a full size garden, and anywhere in between.

Seeds to Supper will be at the Public Library this Saturday the 25th from Noon- 3 p.m. The library is located at 238 E. Alder St. in Walla Walla.

The Walla Walla Gleaners Association was formed to harvest unwanted produce from harvested fields and individual's gardens. The goal of the association is to deal with the issue of hunger while fostering a sense of community and providing access to local, nutritious food.
