Music 360: From Darkness to Light


The second annual Music 360 is almost here. This initiative explores the impact of music through different lenses and this year's theme, From Darkness to Light, focuses on the idea of the endurance of human spirit and the power of innocence over prejudice, discrimination, and intolerance. 

The main event features The Diary of Anne Frank, a one-act opera performed by soprano Ani Maljian and accompanied by chamber orchestra. This opera is based on the original text from Anne Frank's diary. 

Other performances include:

"Nigun" from the Baal Shem Suite by Ernest Bloch performed by Anna Burgess (violin) and Jackie Wood (piano)

"At Terezin" and "The Closed Town" from Songs of Children by Robert Convery performed by the Whitman College Department of Musis Chamber Singers, Amy Dodds (violin), Lyn Ritz (violin), Ed Dixon (cello), Jackie Wood (piano), and conductor Riikka Pietilainen-Caffrey 

"Walk to Caesaria" by Hana Szenesh performed by the Whitman College Chamber Singers and members of the Walla Walla Symphony, conducted by Yaacov Bergman.


Music 360: From Darkness to Light will be on February 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb 28 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students with ID, and $5 for youths 18 and younger. You can purchase tickets here: https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=52976.

The show will be at the Gesa Power House Theatre, which is located at 111 N. 6th Ave. in Walla Walla.
