Day 133: Historic Depot in Dayton

The Historic Depot in Dayton, Washington is the oldest surviving train depot in the state. It has been beautifully restored and is now a museum. Revolving exhibits are featured in the upstairs gallery. The first floor houses the museum shop which was the former freight room. The shop is filled with specialty books, commemorative Depot gifts, kids' items, railroad-themed goods, and many other treats. The museum houses over 2,500 historic photographs, a collection of furniture as well as objects and memorabilia from its Oregon Railroad and Navigation Co. and Union Pacific history. There is also a display of clothing and local artifacts from local pioneer families. The Historical Depot is located at 222 E. Commercial Street in Dayton, Washington. They are open Wednesday-Saturday from 11-4 in November through April and 10-12 and 1-5 in May through October. The admission cost for the museum is $5 for adults and free for children under 12 years of age. There is no admission fee to the museum shop.
