Opening of 109th Symphony Season
It's time for another thrilling and energetic Symphony season! The 109th season of the Walla Walla Symphony opens with 2 performances by pianist Stephan Beus. Stephen Beus is a Whitman and Juilliard graduate who has been celebrated by the Salt Lake Tribune as being "Mesmerizing... explosive... intelligent... he belongs on the world stage."
Beus will perform twice in Walla Walla. First, he will perform a solo recital at the Symphony's first Guest Artist Soiree of the season. This will take place on Saturday October 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in Chism Hall at Whitman College. Tickets for this event include a post-concert reception and change to mingle.
Beus's second performance is of Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Paganini with the Walla Walla Symphony for the first concert of the season. This opening night concert is on October 6th at 7:00 p.m. and includes Bernstein's Overture to Candide, which is fun and energetic, as well as Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 "Italian". This concert will be held at Cordiner Hall, which is located at 46 S. Park St. in Walla Walla.
All opening night ticket holders are invited to "Symphony Happy Hour" prior to the concert on October 6th in the Cordiner Hall lobby. Happy hour begins at 6:00 p.m. and includes free light hors d'eouvres, a pre-concert "Inside the Music" talk and wine from Robison Ranch Cellars will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Symphony.
