Gesa Credit Union and Shakespeare Walla Walla present the Third Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival at the Power House Theatre.
This festival is inspired by the day of the dead holiday celebrated in Mexico and features many local businesses. The festival begins on Oct. 24 with a procession with music and dancing from downtown to the Power House Theatre. The street will be closed off for the procession.
The following day, Oct. 25, art projects, live performances, displays, and more will be set up. There will also be free face painting, a Shakespearean themed "Pageant for the Dead", music, dance performances, and more. Admission is free and all activities are open to the public. There will also be food vendors set up near the festival.
Prints from the "Steamroller Print Project" with motifs depicting iconic Dia de los Muertos images will be on display and for sale after the festival. This unique technique utilizes a steamroller as a printing press to create the giant prints.
The Dia de los Muertos Festival is October 24-25. The festival runs from 10-5 on the 25th and will be at the Power House Theatre which is located at 111 N. 6th Ave. in Walla Walla.
