The Kirkman House Museum has a new exhibit called "Walla Walla Goes to War" that focuses on Walla Walla's contributions to the second World War. The exhibit includes uniforms from the period, grenades, ration books, weapons, and more. The exhibit also features a multimedia component which includes interviews with veterans, stories about Walla Walla's response to rationing, and the war bond effort among others.
The unique stories from the area compliment the artifacts on display and give a clear picture of what life was like in the Walla Walla Valley during World War II. There will also be several WWII themed activities that support the exhibit, such as a fashion show, a USO dance, lectures, and a self-guided driving tour of World War two historic sites.
The exhibit begins on March 18 at the Kirkman House Museum on 214 N. Colville St. The museum's hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
