The 28th Annual Ground Hog Dinner is being held on February 2nd from 4-8pm at the First Christian Church in Milton-Freewater. Celebrate Ground Hogs day with a great dinner of pancakes, applesauce, sausage, scrambled eggs, milk and coffee. Proceeds from the event will help Ferndale Elementary School principal Ron Richwine with medical costs incurred with his cancer treatments. The cost for the dinner is $17 for a family, $6 for adults, and $4 for kids under 12 years of age. Fresh sausage will be sold at the door. Mother & Son Bowl-A-Rama
Boys are invited to bring their mom's down to the newly owned and managed Bowlaway Lanes at 411 Ash Street in Walla Walla for a rockin'good time of bowling, dessert, and fun on Saturday, February 9th. The Mother & Son Bowl-A-Rama is a two hour event where Mothers and sons will be able to bowl as many games as possible. Dessert will be available at the event. Walla Walla Community Hospice presents Evening of Elegance, February 9, 2013 in the Explorer Ballroom at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. The Evening of Elegance feature local wine, an amazing four course dinner, plus a live and silent auction.

4th Annual Julia Child Cook Off in Walla Walla
The 4th Annual Julia Child Cook-off is taking place Sunday, February 17 from 2-4pm at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Chocolate Mousse is the dish that contestants will be preparing for the competition. Contestants must be amateurs cooks that do not make a living by cooking, preparing, crafting, or teaching food preparation. The contestants will prepare their version of the dessert at home, then bring it in for judging by a panel of professional, local chefs as well as winners from previous years. Those who would like to enter the competition may call the Walla Walla Downtown Foundation office at 509-529-8755. The community is invited to attend the event. Tickets to attend are $15. each and include a sampling of Chef Antonio Campolio's custom created chocolate mousse and a glass of wine. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 28th.

Blue Mountain Chorus Sweet Adelines Open House
The Blue Mountain Chorus Sweet Adelines is inviting women in the valley to come sing with them. The group is offering free vocal lessons the last four Monday's in January and free membership to the group the following four Monday's in February. The Blue Mountain Chorus Sweet Adelines meet every Monday at 6:30pm at Unity Church of Peace, 810 C Street in the Walla Walla Airport area. Walla Walla Dance Center Beauty and the Beast
Another fairy tail comes to life with over 100 local young dancers in Walla Walla Dance Center's upcoming performance of Beauty and the Beast. The dance performance will be held 7:30pm, January 26th at Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College Campus. Based on the first published story by Gabrielle de Villeneuve, the Walla Walla Dance Center directed by Idalee Hutson-Fish, presents a tale of discovering beauty from the inside out. Tickets for the performance are $15 for reserve seats, $12 for general seats, and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at Earth Light Books in Walla Walla.

Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour in Walla Walla
The Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour will be in Walla Walla on January 22, 2013. This Film Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious Mountain Film Festivals in the world. The tour stops at around 400 communities and 35 countries across the globe. The tour in Walla Walla will be held at Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College Campus. This years tour will feature some of the most inspiring and action adventure films from the festival. Doors open at 6:30pm on the 22nd and the program starts at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased a week ahead of time. Tickets are $10. for adults, $5. for kids and students under 17 years of age. Whitman College students, faculty, and staff are free of charge.

Murder Mystery Weekend at the Weinhard Hotel
The Weinhard Hotel in Dayton presents a Murder Mystery Weekend January 25-27. Guests will have the opportunity to discover Dayton as they look for clues to help catch a killer or prove their own innocence! The weekend package includes two night's accommodations for two people at the Hotel. Guests will receive individual Murder Mystery character packet and a dessert reception on Friday evening. A continental breakfast will be served on Saturday morning and a points of interest map of Dayton for super sleuthing will be distributed. Guest are invited back to the hotel for a wine and cheese reception on Saturday evening followed by a four-course Murder Mystery Dinner. AMC Walla Walla Road Show Final 4 Taping at Power House Theatre
The AMC Road Show will be in Walla Walla, Tuesday, January 8th at the Power House Theatre taping a show with the final four contestants for the Walla Walla Talent Show competition. Four contestant were selected by celebrity judges from approximately 49 acts that auditioned on Saturday, January 5th. The winner of the competition will be determined after the show on Tuesday by votes from the audience. Tickets for the show are free and will be given out on a first come first serve basis starting at 6pm at the Power House Theatre. The winner of the competition will receive a Road Show Trophy and $10,000. AMC is taping footage of the performers and Downtown Walla Walla. AMC will be broadcasting the Roadshow in 8 segments for the 8 different cities. The debut for the Road Show is slated for the second quarter of 2013.

Walla Walla Winter Chamber Music Festival
The Walla Walla Winter Chamber Music Festival kicks off on January 17 with a Free Sounds Like Concert for Children. The concert will be performed at the Walla Walla Public Library at 3:30pm as part of the Sounds Like Fun! Series. The program will highlight a wide variety of music, musical theater, movies, and cartoons. This performance is sponsored by Columbia REA.
Two more days of free performances will be offered. January 18th the winners of the 2011 Concert Artist Guild competition Sybarite5, in a master class for students of Whitman College, Walla Walla University, and Walla Walla Community College. The location for the ensemble will be determined at a later date.On January 19th a free open rehearsal will be held at downtown Walla Walla's Salumiere Cesario from 10am to noon.
The wine and music 6pm concerts will be held at Charles Smith Winery on January 18 and at the Foundry Vineyards on January 19. Sybarite 5, a quintet consisting of 2 violins, viola, cello and double bass will be performing at Charles Smith Winery. The 6 Brandenburg Concertos by JS Bach will be performed at Foundry Vineyards. The musicians will perform Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048.
The final performance of the series is a variety of music from Bach to Radiohead, Sybarite5 brings freshness and virtuosity to their innovative approach to music in the 21st Century. The concert will be performed January 20, 7:30pm at the Power House Theatre. Tickets are $20 for adults, $8. for students and $40. for family tickets.
