Hansel and Gretel House Decorating at the YWCA

 
Kids of all ages are invited to attend the annual Hansel and Gretel House Decorating event at the Walla Walla YWCA on Friday, December 21st. Participants will have the chance to build and decorate their very own Hansel and Gretel House out of graham crackers, frosting, and candy. Decorating sessions are 1-2pm, 2-3pm, and 3-4pm. The fee for the event is $5. Parents with children under the age of 5 are asked to stay for the duration of the event. To reserve a spot or for more information call the Walla Walla YWCA at 509-525-2570. The YWCA is located at 213 S First Street in Walla Walla.

Walla Walla Symphony presents The Nutcracker


The Walla Walla Symphony is performing The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 15th. This annual holiday performance will be presented at 2pm and 7:30pm at Cordiner Hall on the Whitman College Campus. The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky is a fairy tale featuring a life size nutcracker doll, sugar plum fairy, and dancing sweets. The symphony will perform with the Eugene Ballet Company and local dancers from the Dance Center of Walla Walla. Ticket prices start at $15. for students and $25. for adults. Walla Walla Valley Christmas Bus Lighting Tour

A Walla Walla Valley Christmas Bus Lighting Tour is being sponsored by the Home Loan Center of Washington on December 13 and 14. Tours will start and return to the Home Loan Center at 1 East Main Street. Participants will enjoy hot cider, hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies and tour some of the best Walla Walla Valley Christmas light displays. Christmas characters will be along for the ride telling Christmas stories and spreading holiday cheer. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Home Loan Center at 509-527-3353. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children's Museum of Walla Walla.

Mother Daughter High Tea at Cameo Heights Mansion

Cameo Heights Mansion is hosting an elegant formal Tea for mothers and daughters ages 6-96 on December 15th. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their finest holiday clothing to enjoy a traditional High Tea spread by Chef Penny. Reservations are required. Admission for the tea is $30 for adults and $20 for children plus tax and gratuity. Cameo Heights Mansion is located at 11072 Oasis Road in Touchet, Washington. Holiday Open House at Blue Mountain Lavender Farm

The Blue Mountain Lavender Farm  is having a Holiday Open House at the Farm Boutique from 11am-4pm on December 9th, 14th, and 16th. The Boutique will feature gifts made from lavender grown on the farm. There will be sachets, wreaths, bath and body luxuries, lavender oil, culinary and food items, and gift baskets. Lavender refreshments will be served. The Blue Mountain Lavender Farm is located at 345 Short Road Place in Lowden Washington. The farm grows close to 2 acres of lavender. There are over 20 varieties of the fragrant herb planted on the farm. The Farm Boutique can be visited by appointment the rest of the year by calling (509) 529-FARM.

Walla Walla Holiday Barrel Tasting

The Holiday Barrel Tasting in the Walla Walla Valley is December 7-9th. This annual event is held on the first full weekend of December. Wine makers and cellar staff will be providing samples of future wine releases straight from the barrels as well as the wineries new wine releases. The majority of the wineries will be open from 10am -5pm all three days. Many are hosting special wine club events. Each winery will be participating in their own way with a festive atmosphere. Some of the wineries will be offering a sampling of food, live music, and displays of local art. Camino Real at Harper Joy Theatre

Harper Joy Theatre on the Whitman College Campus presents Camino Real, by Tennessee Williams. The play runs from December 6 through December 9th at the Alexander Stage. New York Times called this one of Williams most imaginative plays. The story is about a man named Kilroy, who is an American traveler and former boxer who accidentally lands on the Camino Real, a surreal netherworld populated by famous figures from literature and history. Show times are Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8pm and a Sunday Matinee at 2pm. Tickets are $12. for adults, $8. for seniors and students, and free of charge for Whitman students.
