Shakespeare Creative Arts Summer Camps

Parks & Recreation is teaming up with Shakespeare Walla Walla teaching artists to provide an amazing theater experience for youth.  Each camp will conclude with a final showcase on the Power House Theatre stage. 

Will’s Play and Paint is for ages 8-12; Campers will spend ½ of their day immersed in the fun of acting Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and ½ of the day creating visual art works from the Renaissance era.  Activities will include dancing, acting, stage combat, play rehearsal, painting, drawing, mask-making, and more!   Classes are July 9-13, 9am-4pm  or July 23-27, 9am-4pm. the fee is $225. for each week long session.

Willful Youth:  Shakespeare’s Ghosts and Villains; Campers speak the words of Shakespeare’s ghosts and villains while creating their own fake scars, bruises, and blood.  Professional actors from Romeo and Juliet will lead the action! Classes are July 16-20, 9am-4pm. The fee is $275.

Little Theatre of Walla Walla, Red, White, and Tuna

The Little Theatre of Walla Walla is getting ready to perform Red, White, and Tuna. This production is the third in the Greater Tuna Trilogy. Gil Alden and Topher Murphey will reprise their roles as radio station OKKK news personalities and various other hilarious characters of Tuna, Texas. The play centers around the Tuna High School Reunion over the Fourth of July. The celebration sets the stage for a show full of fun and fireworks. Performances will be June 29 through July 11. Tickets are $12. each and can be purchased at the ltww.org web site. The Little Theatre of Walla Walla is located at 1130 Sumach in Walla Walla.

The Frazier Farmstead Summertime Festival

The Milton-Freewater Frazier Farmstead Museum will hold their Summertime Festival on Saturday, June 30 from 6:00-10:00 pm. Enjoy an evening of music, dinner, wine and historic displays. Dance on the hardwood floors under the stars. The Penrose Lane band will be performing a variety of danceable music with a special guest appearance by Mick Jagger, ( special friend of the museum). The museum will be displaying restored 1800 antique buggies, the beautiful replanted perennial garden, and the McCoy cabin.  Tickets for the event are $30. each and are available by calling the museum at 541-938-4636 or the director at 541-938-3480. A no host bar will be on site. All proceeds will be used on the museum's many projects and services. The Frazier Farmstead is located at 1403 Chestnut Street in Milton-Freewater.

Big Daddy's Barbeque at Powerhouse Theatre

Big Daddy's Barbeque is coming to the Powerhouse Theatre, Saturday, June 23rd. This one man stand up comedy show is produced by Greg Thompson Productions and is directed by Ted Lange, who starred as Isaac on the Love Boat. Big Daddy's is set in a backyard BBQ stage. Jeff Wayne's character brings good-natured humor and an uncommon dose of common sense. There will be just 14 performances from June 23rd through July 8th. Kirkman House Museum Play Ball Exhibit


The Kirkman House Museum will be displaying their Play Ball exhibit June 13 through September 2nd. Visitors will have the opportunity to play  baseball trivia games for the chance to win tickets to a Walla Walla Sweets game, a baseball, or a new baseball cap. The exhibit includes the history about Walla Walla's Sunday baseball games, the early days of baseball, and  pictures of local baseball players.
The Kirkman House Museum is located on the corner of Colville and Cherry Street in Walla Walla. They are open Wednesday through Saturday, 10am-4pm, and Sunday, 1-4pm. Admission is $5. for adults and $20. for a family.

All Wheels Weekend in Dayton


The All Wheels Weekend in Dayton is June 15, 16, and 17th. The opening Ceremony starts Friday at 7:30pm in the American West Bank parking lot. Live music by the Retreads will be playing on Main Street from 6-9pm. Pudget Sound Energy Fireworks will start at 9:30pm.

Saturday events in downtown Dayton include drag races at 1pm, Speeder Car rides at the Depot from 11-4pm, and a Pub Crawl at 8:30pm. There will be a beer garden and Demolition Derby at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. Time trails start at 4pm.

Sunday there is a Fathers Day Breakfast at the Fairgrounds from 8am-11am. The Vestas All Wheel Golf tournament starts at 9am at the Touchet Valley Golf Course.

Lavender Daze 2012


The Blue Mountain Lavender Farm is now open for Lavender Daze 2012. The Farm is open June 6 through July 16 from 10am to 5pm, Sunday-Friday. There is no charge to visit the Lavender Farm. Activities include picking bundles of lavender for just a few dollars each, making lavender wreaths, wands, and baskets. The farm currently grow 15 varieties of lavender for fresh-cut and dried bouquets, and loose dried lavender. They produce their own line of lavender products that can be purchased online or at their  Farm Boutique.
Blue Mountain Lavender Farm is located at 345 Short Road, in Lowden.

2012 Relay for Life

The Walla Walla Relay for Life starts tonight with a Survivor Ceremony at 6pm, June 8-9 at Borleski Stadium. Events are scheduled each hour around the clock for both days. Live Bands, kids games with the YMCA, Walla Walla Jazzercise, and special themed laps will be on the schedule.

Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The overnight relay-style event allows teams of people to camp out around the track. Members of each team take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event.  Walla Walla has 515 people participating with 36 teams. So far they have raised $49,532.

Mares N Music 2012

The Walla Walla Symphony and local horse groups are pairing up for a live symphonic music performance, Saturday, June 10th, 3pm at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds. Dr. Edward Dixon will be conducting the symphony. The performance will feature western riding and horsemanship to live symphonic music. Tickets for this popular event sell out quick. Tickets are general admission with adults $15, youth $5 (under 18). Family tickets at $35 for two adults and two youth are available by calling the Symphony office at 509-529-8020. Old Town Freewater Street Fair

Milton-Freewater is hosting an Old Town Freewater Street Fair June 8th and 9th on North Main Street. The event runs from 9am to 5pm each day. Arts and crafts vendors will be showcasing their wares. Jam sessions will be held with valley musicians as well as music by Chinook Winds, The Double Dares, Rodney Bonifer, Shaniko, and Terry Hagate. Wine Tasting will take place on Saturday from 12-5pm. Food and bake sale items will be on sale. There will also be a car show and bingo. Fun for the whole family.

4th Annual Fly Fishing Day on Waterbrook Pond


Waterbrook Winery and Tasting Room presents the 4th Annual Fly Fishing Day on Waterbrook Pond, Saturday, June 9th, 11am-3pm. The Festivities include fly tying instructions ,fly casting classes and a friendly competition led by the event sponsors, Walla2 Fly Fisher's Club. John Spain will be demonstrating dutch oven campfire cooking. Admission to this event is free and all ages are welcome.
