Oldies Music Night at the Milton-Freewater Library is Friday, March 2nd. They are planning an evening with 3 hours of great music featuring 45 songs. The songs played will be from 15 artists who had Billboard hits in 1962 and who are still among the top all time artists decades later.
Artists such as The Beach Boys, Bobby Vinton, Herb Alpert, Carole King, the Dells, Peter, Paul & Mary, Booker T and the MGs, and Gene Chandler. The other seven artists are Jack Jones, Tommy Roe,The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Paul Simon, Patti LaBelle, and Jay and the Americans.
There is no charge to attend Oldies Night. The music starts playing at 7:30pm.

Walla Walla Choral Society- Spring is in the Air
The Walla Walla Choral Society is celebrating the coming of spring with a concert, Spring is in the Air. The musical performance is centered around love and romance. Some of the pieces being performed include, It had to be You, Love Me Tender, The Water is Wide, and Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes.
Spring is in the Air is being performed on Saturday, March 20th, 7:30pm at First Congregational Church in Walla Walla. Admittance is $10 at the door. Children under the age of 13 are free.

Jumpin' Jellybeanz
Jumpin' Jellybeanz is a popular new hang out for kids and their parents. This indoor play center has bounce houses, floor toys, party room, and refreshments. The entertainment is reasonably priced.
For kids who are not walking yet, there is no charge. For those under the age of 3, the fee is $4. The fee is $5. for kids 4-16 years of age. The party room can be booked during open hours for $50. A private party after hours is $150. Jumpin' Jellybeanz is located at 20 E Poplar Street in Walla Walla and is open every day but Wednesday from 11am-8pm. Baby dance classes will be offered in March.

A Wing and a Prayer BBQ and Catering has moved into their new location in Downtown Walla Walla. They are serving up both lunch and dinner at 201 E Main Street.
A Wing and Prayer prepares all of their menu items themselves. Their BBQ Pulled Pork has won 1st place in many BBQ competitions. They bottle a specialty BBQ Sauce that can be purchased on site at Super One Foods or Harvest Foods in Walla Walla. A Wing and a Prayer BBQ is open Tuesday-Friday, 11am-2pm and 4pm-8pm, and Saturday 11am-8pm. Business hours may be extended during spring and summer months.

February is for Foodies Cooking Class Series

Eastgate Lions Club Crab Feed
The Walla Walla Eastgate Lions Club Crab Feed was Saturday, February 18th. 2000 pounds of crab was brought in from the Oregon Coast. Those who attended brought tools to crack the crab. Also served was baked beans, cole slaw, and garlic bread. Wine and beer was sold on site. Tickets for this popular event were pre-sold in advance for $35. each. The feed is held at the Walla Walla Fairgrounds. This event sells out every year. Proceeds from the event will benefit local site and hearing needs in the community. The Eastgate Lions Club meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Pioneer Park Community Building. For membership information, contact Scott Williams at 509-520-2351.

Whitman College Fridays at 4 Musical Concerts
Whitman College Fridays at Four Recital Series is underway. This evenings performance features Edward Dixon on cello and Sheila Gephart on piano. Walla Mardi Gras Pub Crawl
The first annual Walla Mardi Gras Pub Crawl is being held Saturday, February 18, from 2-9pm in Downtown Walla Walla. Local pubs will be offering up food and beverages during the event as participants walk to and from. The form of payment is with tokens which can be purchased at participating pubs. $25 grants each participant eight token coins. $5 from the ticket price will be donated to the Walla Walla Fire Dept. Benevolence fund. Participating pubs and their venues are listed below:

The Mom's Network in Walla Walla
The Mom's Network in Walla Walla is a local non-profit organization that provides opportunities for mothers in the area to socialize, exchange information, and get involved with the community. TMN has a calendar of events posted on their web site, themomsnetworkww.com. Some of the activities include morning walks, play dates at the YWCA, a book club, along with unique fund raising events. Valentines Symphony Dinner and Concert
Join your valentine for an evening at the Symphony. The Walla Walla Symphony invites you to a delicious dinner at the Green Spoon followed by a concert at Cordiner Hall. Dinner includes 3 courses and a glass of wine for $40 per person with proceeds benefiting the Walla Walla Symphony.
The Symphony concert is Valentine-An Evening of Cole Porter. Rocky Blumhagen will be singing a wide assortment of Cole Porter songs. Rocky was born and raised in the valley.

Lather, Rinse, Defeat 2012
Lather, Rinse, Defeat in Walla Walla is back. This beauty competition is modeled after reality television show, Shear Genius. The 4 week competition is designed as a creative contest that also raises awareness of local nonprofit organizations.
Teams of local hairstylists will perform challenges specifically inspired by various organizations. Each week the competition will be held at a different location and judged by a select panel of representatives from nonprofit organizations.

Julia Child Cookoff: Part Trois- Cassoulet
The Walla Walla Downtown Foundation is celebrating all things Julia Child and all things delicious with a cooking contest. This years featured dish is cassoulet – a slow cooked bean dish originating from the south of France, made with white beans, various forms of pork and usually some duck confit thrown in for good measure. The event is being held on Sunday, February 19 from 2-4pm at the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center in Walla Walla. Chef Antonio will be creating a cassoulet for all guests of the event. Tickets to attend are $15. per person and can be purchased at The Visitors Center at 26 E Main Street. For those who would like to be a contestant in the cooking contest should contact the Downtown Foundation office at 509-529-8755. Proceeds from the event will benefit Salvation Army’s Food Bank Capital Project.

Childrens Home Society Sweetheart Lunch
The Children's Home Society of Washington presents it's 11th annual Sweetheart Luncheon for kids on Wednesday, February 15th. The fundraiser will take place at the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center in Walla Walla. The Keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Marleen Ramsey, Vice President of Instruction, Academic Education and Transitional Studies at Walla Walla Community College. The Master of Ceremonies is Mark Higgins, Communications Director for Walla Walla Public Schools.
A silent auction will begin at 11am and lunch will be served at noon. Tickets are $40. per person and can be purchased by calling Debi Allessio at (509) 529-2130.
Proceeds from the Sweetheart for Kids Luncheon will benefit children and family throughout the region. Last year in Walla Walla, over 1,250 children and families were helped through early learning, counseling, family support, and mentoring programs.

2012 Frampton Comes Alive! Anniversary Tour
Peter Frampton is coming to Walla Walla with his 2012 Frampton Comes Alive Anniversary Tour. The three hour show features a complete performance of the album, Frampton Comes Alive! The Little Theatre of Walla Walla presents Steel Magnolias February 10th through 25th. The show is a story of friendship and trust set in a southern atmosphere that is both warm and comforting. In Truvy's local home grown Beauty Salon, six very different women come together to share their deepest secrets, hopes and fears. Steel Magnolias promises to engage the audience with hysterical and neighborly gossip. As the title suggest, these six ladies can be gentle as magnolias but are as tough as steel.

Blues and BBQ at Charles Smith Wines
Enjoy some great Blues music and some delicious BBQ on Thursday evenings at Charles Smith Wines. Big Daddy, Ray Hansen hosted last nights event. Vaughn Jensen, a blues guitarist from Tri-Cities presented an amazing performance on the stage set in the middle of the winery. Table tops set on cases of wine were adorned with candelabras. Between sets, Ray Hansen complimented Jensens music with a back porch blues theme.
West of the Blues BBQ was parked out front of the winery serving up their smoked pork, beef brisket, chicken entrees as well as the special for the evening, shrimp poor boy sandwiches. Their homemade BBQ sauces are delicious. They also make their own coleslaw and baked beans.

Mothers and their sons are invited to Stardust Lanes for a rockin' good time of bowling, dessert, and fun. Evening of Elegance
The Walla Walla Community Hospice is hosting an Evening of Elegance. The event takes place at the Marcus Whitman Hotel on Saturday, February 11th at 6pm. Wine, hors d'oeuvres, and a four-course dinner are included in the $95 per person ticket price. Groups of 10 people may arrange to sit at the same table. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Walla Walla Community Hospice. WWCH is a non-profit committed to providing quality hospice care to adults and children facing a limited life expectancy. No patient is ever denied hospice services for financial reasons. WWCH relies on the support of the community through donations and fundraisers to defray expenses.
