Day 150: Frogtown Frolickers-Dirty Work @ the Crossroads

The Frogtown Frolickers will stage an upcoming melodrama event, Dirty Work at the Crossroads, April 1st-3rd at the McLoughlin High School Auditorium. This classic tale of villainy and farce encourages audience participation in the form of boos and hisses for the villain and cheers for the heroes. The performance times are 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday will be at 2:30pm. The ticket are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and $20 for families. All proceeds from the performances will be donated to Meals on Wheels, GED Scholarships at BMCC and the Milton-Freewater Public Library. Tickets are available in Milton-Freewater at Century 21 Realty, Three Divas Beads or at the door the night of the performance.

Day 149: Milton Freewater Drive In


It’s that time of year again to visit the biggest screen around the area! Milton Freewater Drive In opens for the season April 1st. They will be showing two family friendly movies opening with “Yogi Bear” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1). The M-F Drive in located at the corner of Highway 11 and
Sunnyside Road
in Milton Freewater Oregon. Gates open at 7:00pm and the show begins at dusk. Admission prices for adults are $6.00. Children 5-11 is $1 and Children under 5 are FREE! This is a fun and affordable place to take in the latest releases.

Day 148: Uptown Wine Walk

Join in the fun with the monthly Downtown Wine Walk. The next wine walk is on April 8th from 5-8pm. The wineries will be selling raffle tickets for 10 bottles of wine. Proceeds from this months raffle go to the Aviary at Pioneer Park.

The participating Wineries for April’s Downtown Wine Walk are, Charles Smith Wines, El Corazon Winery, Fort Walla Walla Cellars, Sinclair Estate Vineyards, and Walla Faces. The wineries feature live music, cheese to chocolate and of course, premium wines. Tickets for the raffle of the 10 bottles of wine are on sale at Walla Faces, Mandrakes Antiques, Sinclair Estate Vineyards and Fort Walla Walla Cellars. The prize drawing held the evening of the Wine Walk, April 8th, at 8pm at the Walla Faces tasting room located at 216 East Main Street.

Day 146: Johns Wheatland Bakery

John's Wheatland Bakery offers many types of breads, rolls, pastries plus a large selection of scones. They have been in operation at 1828 E. Isaac's Ave in Walla Walla for over 24 years. They have 36 different types of breads, so are sure to have a favorite for everyone. John's also offers cakes, pies, cookies and other tasty desserts. Day 145: Clay in Motion

Clay in Motion is a family owned and operated pottery studio located off Hwy 11 in Milton-Freewater. Their facility also houses Art in Motion, and Espresso in Motion. This family owned and operated studio produces more than one hundred different items of functional white ware, stoneware and specialty items.
Art in Motion is a vibrant gallery featuring a wide array of crafted goods, from blown glass to handcrafted artisan jewelry.

Espresso in Motion offers a wide assortment of coffee, espresso, and tea. The serene courtyard off of the shop is a great spot to sit on a warm sunny day.

Stop by Clay in Motion and see first hand how their custom pottery designs are created. They will even create a design that fits your personal or business needs. These shops are open Monday through Saturday: 10 AM - 5 PM, and Sunday: 10 AM - 4 PM. In the summer their hours are extended to 6 PM Monday through Saturday. and until 5 PM on Sunday.

Day 144: Pho Sho

Pho Sho is Walla Walla’s first Vietnamese Pho restaurant. On their menu you will find their famous Pho Noodle Soup served with Thai Basil, Bean Sprouts, Jalapeno, Lime and Love. Their delicious Spring Rolls are rice paper, vermicelli noodles and fresh vegetablesserved with peanut sauce. For dessert Pho Sho offers a house made Coconut Ice-cream and Banana-Coconut Tapioca Pudding.

Pho Sho is located at 123 West Alder Street in Walla Walla. They are open for lunch and dinner from 11am-8pm Tuesday through Saturday. Diners may eat in or stop by for take out.

Day 143: Dominicks on the Runway Restaurant & Lounge

Hungry for some great Italian food? Dominicks on the Runway Restaurant & Lounge may be just the spot you are looking for. Their menu has a collection of recipes from the Dominick family. The meals are prepared from scratch using the freshest local ingredients available.

On the menu you will find sandwiches, pasta, zuppa (soup), and insalata (salad). Gluten free pasta is available in some of their dishes. All of their pasta dishes come with soup or salad and the house bread. A favorite on the menu is the Lasagna and Meatballs. It is a classis Walla Walla “past time” favorite. Choose between Italian sausage or pepperoni meatballs.

Day 138: ZAP Boxing

Zap Boxing Club and Youth Center offers a full line of activities for local youth and adults. A few of those activities are a large variety of boxing equipment, treadmills, cardio workout videos, pool, ping pong, foosball, and TV/lounge area. Zap Boxing offers two sessions of cardio and boxing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. The session for youth ages 6-13 is 6-7pm and for those 14 and above there is a session from 7-8:30pm. The coaches at the boxing club have the training to certify youth for USA Amateur Competition Boxing. At this time they have a group of 12 kids on their boxing team.

Dress up for a downtown cocktail party at Marcy’s Bar and Lounge Saturday, March 19th at 8pm. Day 136: St. Patricks Day Celebration at Saint Patrick Church

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Saint Patrick Church is hosting a Saint Patrick’s Day dinner. All ages are welcome. They will be serving Traditional Irish Pasties, John Leskos famous chili, coleslaw, cupcakes, plus hot dogs and Jell-O for kids. Traditional green Irish beverages will be available. Entertainment will be provided. The dinner starts at 5pm and goes until 7:30pm in Blanchet Hall. The cost is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for children ages 4-12, and $24 for a family. Proceeds from this event benefit Walla Walla Catholic Charities and Walla Walla Catholic Schools. Blanchet Hall is located on the corner of 6th and Alder/Poplar in Walla Walla.

Day 135: Kelly's St Pattys Day

Looking for somewhere fun to go on St Patrick’s Day? Kelly’s Restaurant and Lounge is celebrating in a big way. Stop in and listen to the Saint Paddy’s Day Players Irish Band and enjoy a variety of Irish delicacies. At 9am, Kelly’s will be serving $2 Irish coffees, corned beef hash, biscuits, gravy and corned beef and cabbage. At 3pm there will be an All You Can Eat Irish Buffet which will includes a Irish Stout Stew, Kelly’s Colcannon, Green Bean Bake, Sheppard’s Pie, Irish Pot Roast, Irish Soda Bread, Corned Beef and Cabbage, and Tossed Green Salad. Day 134: WWCC Opera

It’s time to go to the opera. The WWCC Music Department is presenting it’s annual Winter Quarter Operetta, Cartes Postales, which means Post Cards.This whimsical musical takes you on a whirlwind tour of Paris. This original musical work is presented by students in the Voice, Vocal Ensemble and Music Fundamentals classes at the Walla Walla Community College. Day 133: Historic Depot in Dayton

The Historic Depot in Dayton, Washington is the oldest surviving train depot in the state. It has been beautifully restored and is now a museum. Revolving exhibits are featured in the upstairs gallery. The first floor houses the museum shop which was the former freight room. The shop is filled with specialty books, commemorative Depot gifts, kids' items, railroad-themed goods, and many other treats. The museum houses over 2,500 historic photographs, a collection of furniture as well as objects and memorabilia from its Oregon Railroad and Navigation Co. and Union Pacific history. There is also a display of clothing and local artifacts from local pioneer families. The Historical Depot is located at 222 E. Commercial Street in Dayton, Washington. They are open Wednesday-Saturday from 11-4 in November through April and 10-12 and 1-5 in May through October. The admission cost for the museum is $5 for adults and free for children under 12 years of age. There is no admission fee to the museum shop.

Day 131: Steppin Country Dance Lessons

There is still some time this month to join in the fun for Steppin Country dance lessons. Dance lessons are held from 7-9pm on Monday nights September through March from 7-9pm at the Walla Walla Eagles at 350 South 2nd Avenue in Walla Walla. Participants can choose between couples dancing and line dancing. The couples dancing includes the 2 step, 10 step, waltz, swing and cha cha. The cost for the lessons is $6 per person. Those who are interested in joining the Steppin Country Dance club must take a months worth of lessons. Club members can attend a weekly Thursday night dance and perform with the group through out the year. The yearly fee for membership is $20 per person or $40 per family. Lessons for members are free with membership. Steppin Country is a family orientated group. Their members range from young to old. Day 130: Little League Try Outs

Like to play baseball? Little League Baseball tryouts for kids from 9-12 years old are being held for the spring and summer baseball season. Pacific and Valley Little Leagues are holding tryout this week and next for spring and summer action. Pacific League tryouts are 11:30 a.m. March 12th and 13th at the VA Medical Center Fields. Valley League tryouts for 11-12-year-olds are at 11 a.m. March 12. Day 128: Oyster Feed

The Shrine Club in Milton-Freewater is having an Oyster Feed on Saturday, March 12th. At the feed there will also be a dessert auction. This event serves as a fund raiser for the local Shrine Club. Day 126: Petit Noirs

Have a craving for chocolate? Petits Noirs has a boutique in Milton-Freewater with a large variety of hand made European style chocolate. The boutique is easy to find and is located in the purple house at 622 South Main Street in Milton-Freewater. Choose from chocolate truffles, toffees, chocolate bars or some of their specialty chocolates. Many pare well with local wines. The European style hot chocolate is a favorite among patrons. They offer free samples at the shop for this sipping style of hot chocolate. In the summer they offer a delicious chocolate pudding and at harvest time a variety of chocolate marmalades. In need of a party favor? Petits Noir can design a red leather textured box with a splash of stunning ribbon and two delicious chocolate bon bon’s tucked inside. Day 125: Clarettes

Clarettes Restaurant offers a large variety of delicious meals in a family orientated environment. No alcohol is sold in this establishment. They pride themselves in having one of the best vegetarian menus in town. Some of those offerings include garden burgers, vegetarian sausage, gravy, and salads. Their breakfast entrees include pumpkin pancakes and authentic French Toast. Their Granola French Toast is a Texas Toast that is coated with granola. In March, Clarettes will have a special on corned beef and cabbage. Clarettes is located near the Whitman College Campus at 15 South Touchet Street in Walla Walla. They are open 6am-8pm seven days per week.

Day 124: Bingo @ VFW

Like to play BINGO? The VFW has BINGO games open to the public on Monday’s and Tuesday’s at 102 N Colville Street in Walla Walla. Early Bird BINGO starts at 6:15 and BINGO starts at 6:30. A minimum buy in is $10 which gives each player a pack of 22 games. Winners receive cash prizes. The VFW is a non profit organization. Proceeds from these games go to the VFW Foundation.

Day 123:Shadow Memory Box

Children ages 5-10 are invited to come to a Shadow Memory Box class. Children will have the opportunity to create a three dimensional shadow box to display favorite childhood memories. They will learn how to select and layer items to tell a visual story of a special person, trip, event, or time in their life. Participants are asked to bring items such as photographs and other mementos that are important and special to them. Supplies for classes are included in the class cost. These classes are instructed by Jeff Warner. Classes are Saturdays, Marche 19 and 26th at 10:30-11:15 and are held at Carnegie Center, 109 S Palouse St. in Walla Walla.

Day 122: Craft Day

Kids, spend your school vacation doing something crafty! If you are between the ages of 5 and 10, here is an opportunity to choose from a large variety of miscellaneous art supplies and recycled materials to create your very own special project. Drawing, pastels, and painting will also be available to help those creative juices flow! Supplies for classes are included in the class fee. Day 121: WWCC College Rodeo

The WWCC Riding Against Child Abuse College Rodeo is March 11th through March 13th at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds. This rodeo is one of the most well attended college rodeos in the Northwest. Day 120: Book & Game

Book & Game in Walla Walla is filled with thousands of books, hundreds of games, and a large assortment of puzzles, cards, stationary, and gift items. They are one of the few in the area who carry a selection of teacher and education supplies. Teenagers from the ages of 12-17 are invited to join their book club that meets on Monday nights at 5pm. There is no cost to join. The club enjoys activities, sharing of their favorite books, and discussions of the current book they are reading.


Book & Game has some local authors scheduled to talk about the books they have wrote. On March 18th, from 5-7pm, Shirley Scott, clairvoyant animal communicator will be speaking at the store. She is the author of the book, How Old Are We?. March 26th, Francis Potts will be at the store. She is the author of The Diary. This novel is a true story with a setting in historic Walla Walla. It weaves the tale of the day to day life with a tuberculosis sanatorium and local and world affairs.
